Which type of Earth/ Enviromental scientist would you rather be? What are some of the things the occupation does?

Would you be a oceanographer? A geologist? An astronomer? Each one of these types of scientist give different kinds of contributions to the earth and enviromental sciences.  Which one would you rather do?  Why would you want to be that type of scientist? What is an example of what the type of scientist does?

  1. I would rather be an oceanographer. I chose oceanographers because they study the water. Oceanography integrates the sciences of chemistry, physics, geology, and biology. One thing an oceanographer studies is the composition and movement of seawater.

  2. I would want to be a oceanographer. I say that because studying oceans, rivers, and lakes sound very interesting. Oceanographers study the ocean floor and its land forms.

  3. If I became some type of Earth/Enviornmental scientist, I would probably choose to become an astronomer. Outer space has always been interesting to me because of the different planets, stars, etc. Also I think that it would never get boring because the solar system is always moving around and changing.

  4. I actually interviewed for a Marine Biologist job in AK. The guy before me was WAY more qualified and I didn't get the job, but I was looking forward to all of the work they did at NOAA. I especially wanted to do necropsies on beached whales, then take samples back to the lab for analysis.

  5. If I was going to be an Earth/Environmental Scientist, I would prefer to be an astronomer. I have always been amazed at how stars stay in space, and how they produce light that's visible on Earth. Astronomers use technology to explore the planets, and study the universe as whole.

  6. I would love to be a Marine Biologist. Getting to study all the different types of underwater animals would be really cool. I mean who wouldnt want to see a clownfish or a dolphin everyonce in a while.

  7. I would want to be an oceanographer because I think the ocean is very interesting and there is still a lot of things we dont know about the ocean and I would love to be the one to discover those things.

  8. An oceanographer, because you get to explore the depths of the ocean, swim all day, and i don't have to waste my wonderful sleeping time looking at stars.

  9. If I were ever to become an Earth and Environmental scientist, my choice would be easy. I wouldn't want to be oceanographer because i can't swim, so that is out of the question. I would easily be an astronomer. Astronomer do something that i always wanted to do which is sea other planets and stars up close. For example, Galileo is known as the father of astronomy. So i would be like him.

  10. If i had to chose between those three carrers i would want to be an oceanographer because i love to be around water in general. I like to swim fish and i duck hunt all the time so that would be my choice.

  11. If I had to chose, I would pick an oceanographer because I love any type of water. Once I am in water I feel very comfortable. I would love to learn about plants and animals in the marine environment. Oceanographers would also be interested in the numbers of marine organisms develop, relate to one another, adaptto thier environment, and interact with it.

  12. I think an astronomer would be one of the best jobs. I love to study about stars, planets, the sun, and other galaxies. If you were an oceanographer or a marine biologist you have a limit on what you study. With space there really is no limit.

  13. I would prefer to be a Geologist because I find the history of the world interesting, as well as very informative about what other generations did. I would love to learn first hand how past generations and civilizations were able to survive using some very simple tools. Another reason would be to learn about past animals that once lived on Earth but no longer do because of unknown or known reasons.

  14. I would like to be an astronomer, because I love the planets and I love looking at the stars. Also, I love knowing that there is absolutely no limit on what you can study in the universe. There is always something new to discover out there.

  15. I would like yo be an astronomer, because I love outer space. I think it's really cool that there is so much more to the universe than just Earth, and the fact that we can explore it. You could study stars, planets, comets, nebulae, star clusters or galaxies.

  16. I would be a geologist because I love to look at new minerals, and learn about their structure. Basically, a geologist studies
the physical structure and processes of the Earth. Their undergraduate training typically includes significant coursework in chemistry, physics, mathematics and possibly biology, in addition to classes offered through the geology department; volcanology, hydrology, and rock and mineral formation are among the many areas of study.

  17. I would love to be an astronomer because it represents how there are things bigger than us. Our solar system is ENORMOUS. I would love to be able to fulfill my dream by working with everything associated with dreams. It would be an amazing experience to study our planets, the stars, and especially the Milky Way.
